Work: Case Study WNC Bike Fest
Our friends at Pisgah Area SORBA reached out to see if we would be interested in developing the new brand identity for the Bike Fest. That was a definite yes. They do incredible work advocating for our WNC trails and organizing the immense volunteer effort it takes to maintain and keep our trails in top shape. After Hurricane Helene ripped through the mountains they marshaled their volunteer teams to clear and then reopen so many of our beloved trails, so that the community could recover, heal, and play again.
Our path through the branding project was about celebrating the off-road cycling scene in WNC and the community behind it. Something that reflected the distinct personality and character of the region, that was loud, proud and all fun.
We worked with the Pisgah Area SORBA team through discovery, briefs and moodboards before launching into branding concepts. We all landed on a marquee-inspired wordmark and a palette of colors and icons that represent various elements of the Pisgah range. The final identity package set the stage for the event’s marketing, materials and merchandise efforts.
The inaugural WNC Bike Fest was a smash success, with great attendance, a stellar line up of sponsors, and lots of media coverage. The identity and design provided a jolt of energy for the event and community, and allowed the Pisgah Area SORBA team to unleash their pre-event marketing and a very cool merch line up. We had a blast hanging with the bike community and our fellow riders and can’t wait to do it again in 2026.
