The Update Game
At around the five year mark after building a new website, requests for updates or alterations begin to make web designers and developers cringe – and possibly cry. Five years can mark the death of Flash, or the beginning of mobile responsiveness. At some point, we may have to bust out our bedside manner and break the news. Your site isn’t going to make it.
This week, ESPN showed the same awareness, but not for their website. For their studio.
Not just a remodel. Not just new touchscreen monitors or floor panels. But a completely new construction.
Just like a new website, it can be fun to trace the design over the years. Like looking through old photo albums, there’s nothing more telling of the trends of the era.
I’ve only been at Blue Ion for a couple months, but one of the first things I noticed was everyone’s love of a new challenge. The one-off, never-tried-before project is welcomed with open arms here at 301. Who knows – maybe we’ll be designing a television studio in the near future.
