A recent study conducted by Orange, revealed that 62% of all Brits are becoming increasingly frustrated and confused by situations they find themselves in on social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace.  

To help alleviate the confusion and help us avoid any potentially embarrassing predicament, Debrett’s, the UK etiquette experts, have developed a set of golden rules to help us politely navigate social networking sites.

Here’s a sampling:

You don’t have to make friends with people you don’t know. It is not a competition to see how many friends you can get. Think before you poke.

Always wait 24 hours before accepting or removing someone as a friend. The delay will help you gather your thoughts.

Consider your friends’ feelings before posting pictures. Put yourself in their shoes before clicking upload.
