Kernel Panic @ ConvergeSE
Earlier this month the three-day digital gathering known as ConvergeSE went down in Columbia. It was another strong show thanks to the combined talents of the team and the presenters, and we’re lucky that Converge is hq’d right here in SC.
This year we wanted to participate as a sponsor of some sort, and talked to Gene, Giovanni and Jay about the idea of a custom conference brew. They gave the thumbs up, so we turned to our friends at Palmetto Brewing Co. to see what was possible. John and Chris hatched a plan to brew and bottle a special run Blonde Ale, which we could then name, label and release at Converge.
After much beer and banter, we choose the name Kernel Panic because it seemed appropriate given the crowd. For those not familiar with that name….congrats and read this. From there, Nic worked up his propagandadistic label design, Jenny got the story straight, we got the labels and some posters and a site produced, we all squeezed into the Palmetto chiller to apply said labels, and then ran the beer up to the conference to enjoy ’em at the opening night party.
The beer was a hit (I don’t know of another conference that has its own brew) and we had a blast pulling the whole thing off with the help of our buds at Converge and Palmetto. Thanks guys….let’s do it again. We are all out of Kernel Panic so we’ll have to restock…in the meantime, quench your thirst with these pics from the party.
