Lowcountry Flourish 2.0

Posted by on Friday, October 27, 2017

Two years back the Lowcountry Land Trust organized an innovative and inspired new conservation conference called Flourish. It brought together people from all corners of our community and represented a wide range of interests and concerns – our environment, economy, urban and rural planning, and civic engagement. The topics ranged from long-term planning to collaboration to for-profit/non-profit partnerships. But more than anything else it demonstrated and celebrated a shared desire to preserve the unique character of this special place for generations to come.

And now it’s time to carry that conversation forward at Flourish 2.0. This November 16th, the Land Trust will host another Flourish gathering and celebration at Midtown Theater in North Charleston. It starts at 2:30 pm and ends at 6:30 pm, and will include two panel sessions and a post-party at Stripped Pig Distillery next door.

The guest speakers are amazing – Wendy Jackson from the Land Trust Alliance (the national network of land trusts), Drew Lanham from Clemson University (author, poet, professor and ecologist), Chase Heard and Andy Stepanian from Howler Brothers (the co-founders), and Hilary Dessouky from Patagonia (general counsel). Our local participants…in addition to you, of course….will be Ashley Demosthenes from the Land Trust, Lindsay Nevin from Flyway, and yours truly as the emcee. The first session will focus on community conservation and the second on the marriage of commerce and conservation.

For more details and registration, visit the Flourish website. Space is limited, so get on it.

Hope to see you there.
