In 2001, the Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau asked us to help build a platform to bring tourists, meeting and tour planners, the press and other key audiences to the Charleston region. We dug in, gathering insights on consumers and travel behavior, competitive destinations, and the unique attributes of the city we call home. The brand theme that emerged: Charleston. Where History Lives. is a reflection of research insights, which included identifying the things people love most about the region. That sweet spot is the region’s perfectly preserved colonial seaport roots balanced by a vibrant daily life and rich culture. That brand theme and strategic position continue to drive all marketing efforts. Over the years, we’ve had the opportunity to build multiple versions of the official travel website, unique microsites and marketing campaigns for Families, Weddings, Beach Vacations, Golf, Meeting Planners and a wide array of engagement and lead generation programs. All designed to bring the Charleston experience to life, drive growth and economic impact – and share the magic of the region we’re all grateful to call ours.
