Work: Case Study Newport Vessels

As Newport Vessels prepared to expand its focus from producing inflatable dinghies to pioneering small electric outboard motors, they realized the brand needed a new foundation. They were ready to focus their efforts and outreach on small boat and kayak anglers who recognize the advantages of electric motors, and we were ready to get to work plotting the brand’s path forward.

For most anglers, time on the water is a necessity. They’re there for the search, the hunt, the solitude, and to get away from the land. Central to that mission is the motor–it’s the gateway to freedom and adventure. Newport recognized that the hassle and pollution of gas engines is the way of the past, and that the way forward is electric–clean, quiet, fast, and light.
We worked closely with Newport to sharpen a direction that focused on the passion and pursuit they share with small craft anglers.

Our work with Newport Vessels began with channeling the brand’s new premise into a story to rally its community of anglers and internal team alike. This narrative, the anthem, would charge the rest of the brand overhaul–inspiring a fresh, clean take on the brand’s logomark and design palette to inform the tone and design of core brand materials. We helped redevelop Newport Vessel’s marketing kit, ranging from the battery packaging design, to the brand’s social, newsletter, website, and copywriting.

With a quick turnaround, the launch of Newport Vessels’ new branding was a successful reintroduction of the company to its avid angler audience. The new brand invigorated the electric motor’s product launch and helped drive sales of outboard engines and accessories.
