Welcome Adam Olejarczyk

We’re excited to welcome the newest member of the Blue Ion team: Adam Olejarczyk. Adam joins us with a decade-plus of digital marketing experience, with a deep background in technical SEO and paid search. Bonus points: he’s a Krav Maga instructor, which gives us an immediate upgrade to the office security.

His official title is Digital Brand Manager, and he’s already diving in to lead a range of projects both internal and client-facing. We’re looking forward to expanding our expertise and scope of services with the firepower Adam brings to the team.

As with all new hires, we must first subject them to the dreaded First Blog Post Interview. Read on to discover the true reasons we hired Adam, and say hello in the comments.

What celebrity parents do you wish you had?
Kenny Loggins and Betty White

Most realistic Krav Maga fight sequence?
All of John Wick. Just kidding, probably JLo’s scene in Enough where she fights the actor from the Rocketeer

Most black-hat SEO trick you’ve ever tried to pull? Did it work?
Hmm. Buying just-expired domains that had ranked well for a certain keyword, putting up a copy of the old site, forwarding the domain, then consolidating the site into an optimized landing page. It used to transfer the ranking to that landing page.

You have to write in one font for the rest of your life. What is it going to be? (hint you’re fired if you say comic sans or curlz).
Tahoma is nice.

What terrible movie deserves a remake?
Conan the barbarian

What 80s power ballad best defines your life?
That’s a tough one – they’re all so good! I’d have to pick Can’t fight this feeling – REO Speedwagon

What is always in your refrigerator?
Lunches for the week, Wickles, and a drawer entirely full of cheese

It’s 5pm. What are you drinking?
Probably water but hopefully a good IPA on the weekend

What do you like to do on a rainy day?
On a day off I like to sleep in, and read a bad fiction book (currently Dean Koontz)

You have to spend one week on one ride at Disney World, which one do you pick?
I’d do the animal kingdom safari for a week and try to make friends with a rhino.

Would Spielberg, Tarantino, Hitchcock, or Scorsese direct a movie on your life?
I’d like to think Spielberg, though he’d have to take some artistic liberties to make it interesting. Maybe he could make me an astronaut? (Yes, I totally went to space camp as a kid)

You have one day in NYC, what’s your itinerary?
This is all over town, but: Breakfast at Black Seed in SoHo for a fancy hipster bagel, walk it off on the High Line, take a special trip to Chinatown for lunch at Cheeky Sandwiches, then back uptown to see a show and maybe a museum.

Next would be dinner at my favorite NYC restaurant – an amazing Japanese tapas place, no joke hidden in the bottom of a parking deck, called Sakagura, then back to west village to spend the rest of the night having drinks at the most charming wine bar ever, Vin sur Vingt, with Mos, the French bartender who remembers faces and names years later.

If you could choose only one song to play every time you walked into a room what would it be?
You Make My Dreams by Hall and Oates because I feel it would always, without fail, make everyone’s day better.

What would you call your own Krav Maga gym?
Fort Kickass

Favorite polish dish?
Kluski – they’re like little diamond-shaped Gnocchi and are delicious pan fried served with sour cream

You’re getting a tattoo: Pi, &, Tramp stamp, or Barbed wire – what do you pick?
Pi because I’m math-y though a tramp stamp sure is tempting

Favorite Netflix binge with the wife (and without the wife)?
Top Gear with Catherine – I love cars and she loves old British men yelling at each other. Without… I just started rewatching Mr Bean – timeless!

You’re having a bad day, what makes it better?
Definitely a nice walk through Hampton Park with Leo, my sweet yellow Lab.

What is your favorite time of day?
I love early mornings, though I’m usually not awake for them.

What three words would your family use to describe you?
Very Sweet Boy or maybe Should Call More
