Radiohead v. The Industry

Thumb’s up is right. Next week’s digital release of the new Radiohead album, In Rainbows, is yet another blow to the record companies (aka, the man). The band is no longer signed to a major label and they’ve got enough juice to draw fans on their own. So they’re leveraging the web to “sell” the new album directly to their fans. You’ll be able to download it or buy a boxed set with fancy artwork, etc. If you choose the download, you name your price (free sounds good) as long as you’re willing to register your info so they can keep in touch about the upcoming tour. So…you get free music, they get direct access to their fans….and the man takes another body blow.
