New Employee Spotlight: Jason Gillespie

The introductions continue. Say hi to Jason Gillespie. Jason comes to us from Blacksburg, VA, and is joining our team as a front/back-end web developer.  When he’s not in the studio, you’ll catch him zooming around on his motorcycle, jammin’ on his guitar, aspiring to surf, exploring the nightlife of Charleston, or paddle boarding with his dog Cali.

What are your nicknames?
“Flock of Seagulls.” Don’t ask, ’cause I don’t know either.
Another was “Strongfoot”. During a sound check before a show at a lonely West Virginia dive bar, an elderly woman running the soundboard was impressed by the punch of my kick drum and yelled, “Boy! You’ve gots a strooooong foooot!” Sooo, yeah.

What would be the title of your autobiography?
“Jason? There never was a Jason.”

If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?
Time travel. Who doesn’t love “Back to the Future?” I wonder if we figure out the hover board thing.

Would you rather be a tiny elephant or a giant hamster?
A Giant Hamster. My dog would freak.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?*
Probably something I created out of Ramen Noodles and spare condiments lying about while in college.

If you were a cupcake, what flavor would you be?
Sushi. I don’t have much of a sweet tooth. And, at the moment I’m craving a Volcano Roll.

What celebrity do people think you look like?
Paul Walker and Jason Statham – I don’t see a resemblance to either.

When you were 6 years old, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A rock star! And, of course an Astronaut. I had big plans to accomplish both, and play the worlds first rock show on the moon.

What was your favorite toy as a child?
Definitely had to be the TMNT Pizza Thrower. The Ghostbuster’s Proton Pack was a close second.

What would you like to be famous for?
Ummmm..

What one food do you wish had zero calories?
Tater Tots – I’m tired of trying to find healthy alternative sides.

If you were a Crayola crayon, what color would you be?
Navy Blue.

What’s your Smurf name?
Timid Smurf. Yeah, I can be a little bashful.

If you could only drink one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Burbon and soda water, with a splash of lemon and lime. The soda water makes it healthy, right?

What is your theme song?
Good question. Probably something off of Avett Brother’s “Emotionalism” album.

If your house was burning down, what’s the one thing you would save?
My guitar, assuming my dog Cali escaped unscathed, of course.

Which cartoon character would you most like to switch lives with?
Road Runner, he’s super fast, clever, and can get himself out of any situation. Plus, it takes a ton of strength and careful calculation to drop an iron anvil on a moving target from 5000 ft.

If you were on death row, what would your last meal be?
Steak, collard greens, mashed potatoes, and corn on the cob. This questionnaire is making me hungry!

If you were to write a self-help book, what would the topic be?
“How doing things, changes things.”

If you could witness any historical event, what would you want to see?
Woodstock.
