Elf on the Shelf

I’ve been informed of a strange new Christmas tradition among households with young children. It’s the tale of the Elf on the Shelf… an odd motivational tool to keep the kids on their best behavior for the month of December.

It works like this: the elf makes his appearance around the holidays (or earlier, depending on how susceptible to deception your child is…. as early as July for the slow ones…). The kids come home to tell the elf how good they’ve been that day, and the elf disappears up the chimney at night to report back to Santa. The next day, he’s back, but in a different location. Clever. And creepy.

Here at Blue Ion, we have our own elf, though he makes up for the lack of actually talking to Santa by dialing up the creepiness factor to 11.
