Craft Beer… Have You Heard Of it?

Beer has been a desired beverage dating back to the 5th millennium BC, thought to have originated in the middle east (Iran/Egypt). But, over the last 50 years beer has taken on new meaning with the hippest of those in our society. The renaissance of beer, also known to many as “craft beer” has erupted. In Charleston alone, we have evolved from claiming one brewery in 1994 to 23+ breweries as of 2018. On a national level, even mega breweries like Coors and Anheuser-Busch are trying to jump on the “craft beer” train by purchasing breweries like Goose Island and Wicked Weed.

Here at Blue Ion, we have been fortunate enough to collaborate with one local brewery that is taking over the Southeast, Holy City Brewing. Located north of downtown off Dorchester Road, they have been cranking out beers for the past 6 years. In the past few months, we’ve worked with the Holy City crew on 3 can labels, one bottle label and currently have a few more in the works.

Next time you are in the grocery/liquor store, be sure to look out for the below logo on your beer cans. This certifies that the beer was made in the U.S by a craft brewer, and is not owned by any larger corporation. To learn more about this movement click here  and #seektheseal.
