AT&T Text Spam


AT&T is catching a lot of flack for spamming 75 million of its customers with text spam…promoting the season premier of American Idol. They are a sponsor of the show. Their rationale is that (1) it’s a text friendly program…viewers texting their votes, etc., and (2) that it’s not “spam” because you don’t have to pay for the message delivery and you can opt out. For the most part, recipients seem to disagree and see it as nothing more than canned spam.
