New Employee Spotlight: Tyler Pate

How about a rousing Charleston heyyyyy for Tyler Pate, art director and newest member of our team. We first got to know Tyler and his work during his stint as a Blue Ion intern where he cut his chops and earned our respect through solid efforts on both digital and print projects. Since joining us full time a few weeks ago, he’s dived right into an array of projects, some with super tight deadlines, and handled it all like a seasoned pro. I’ll also add that on Monday when he walked in with an enormous tray of pastries, well, he had us at danish.

Now, get to know him a little better.

What are your nicknames?
I’ve had some odd ones like T-pate or Typoe. I will say that Typoe has seemed to be more relevant then T-pate since I’ve never been a rapper but I can definitely put down some typos.

What would be the title of your autobiography?
What’s sarcasm?

If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?
Teleporting would be awesome. I would just spend my life jumping around the world. Kind of like the movie Jumper, but I would have a way better plot than that movie.

Would you rather be a tiny elephant or a giant hamster?
A giant hamster? Imagine how big that running wheel would have to be….mind exploding.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten?
Eel sushi rolls.

If you were a cupcake, what flavor would you be?
COOL.

What celebrity do people think you look like?
(Disclaimer, I’ve heard some ridiculous ones) but Robert Patterson and like two other weirdos from that vampire movie and James Franco have always made me laugh.

When you were 6 years old, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A professional skateboarder was always a dream growing up.

What was your favorite toy as a child?
Batman action figures. I had so many it was sad…but then again awesome because it’s Batman.

What would you like to be famous for?
That guy that created that thing.

What one food do you wish had zero calories?
Blueberry pancakes

If you were a Crayola crayon, what color would you be?
Blue since I would probably eat the blue one if I didn’t know better.

If you could only drink one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

If your house was burning down, what’s the one thing you would save?
My Shepard Fairey prints would be a fast grab.

Which cartoon character would you most like to switch lives with?
Randy Marsh from South Park. Not that his life is awesome but it would be funny as hell.

If you were on death row, what would your last meal be?
Hibachi steak and rice. Throw in some sushi too.

If you were to write a self-help book, what would the topic be?
Staying true to you. Doing everything that makes you who you are is one of the most important things that I live by.

If you could witness any historical event, what would you want to see?
Would have been awesome to experience the Roman colosseum or the Egyptian pyramids as they were being built.
