As is customary any time Blue Ion grows, we sat down with our newest team member, Ellen Schmedinghoff and asked her tough questions to really get to know her.

First of all, we learned how to pronounce her name (it really does roll off the tongue once you get it down), we learned her go-to nicknames (in case Schmedinghoff is a tongue twister for you), her celebrity lookalike, and picked up on a Beyonce theme in some of her answers (it’s safe to say she’ll fit right in with the ladies in the office).

What would be the title of your autobiography?


People Tell Me Things, because everybody (strangers, acquaintances, and anyone in between) tends to spill their guts to me.

If you could have any super power, what would it be and why?

Lots of my close friends (and all of my family) live far from Charleston, and most of them live in places I love traveling to. For that reason, I would say teleporting or flying so I can get to them quickly and often.

ALL of them. I was obsessed.

When you were 6 years old, what did you want to be when you grew up?

After I abandoned my dream of being an ice cream truck driver, I was focused on being a talk show host. In fact, I even taped a few episodes with my friends as guests. I’d still like to make this happen.

What was your favorite toy as a child?

I wasn’t big on toys, but was always in my grandparent’s pool or playing with our hose or sprinkler… if that counts.
