As a writer, I’m always curious about how different and new words and phrases work their way into our daily lexicon and culture. Social media is an interesting place to discover some of the latest and greatest making the rounds. For your convenience, I’ve put together this handy short list. I always wonder where, how and from whom these words and phrases start. Should you happen to know the origins of anything listed below, please feel free to share in the comments.   Related to this, just the plural form.

  As if the link or photo you’re “leaving” on purpose, on social media, is going to incite laughter, surprise, revolution, high fives, or other as yet unnamed incredulity.
• I can’t even.
  When the overwhelming feeling of anything ranging from small animal cuteness to utter morale outrage is nearly too much to bear. And also, you probably can even. And have done.
• That moment when ______.
  …the baby wakes up early? …your client weeps? …everybody Wang Chung-ed? …the tequila bottle was empty and no one claimed responsibility?

  A catch-all word that could refer to the general feeling that accompanies any day of the week or nearly any occasion or situation imaginable.
